We made it across the bay and raised close to $6000! My brother Ken is already planning next year's swim.

Joe, Ken, Rob, Fred and Begizo after the swim

Hi, I'm Fred Harrington, I started this site to promote fund raising to help cure diabetes when my grandson Begizo was diagnosed with Type 1. He was a few months less than two at the time.

My little brother Ken Harrington asked me if I would swim across the bay with him to help raise money for the cure. Before I said yes I went down to the pier and swam around for about an hour to see if I could make it. I said yes, so did my son inlaw Rob Sargent and my friend Joe Lucier. So on August 28th we will take off from Harbor Springs Michigan and head for the Eagles Club in Petoskey. They say it is about 3.1 miles as the crow flies. I am the oldest and figure it is going to take me at least 4 hours wish us luck!

We are swimming into the Eagles club in Petoskey partially because we will be too tired to climb up on the new break wall but mostly because the Eagles have been raising money to pay for research to cure Diabetes. They have 501.C.3 status and have a fund set up to receive donations just for this cause. Please consider making a donation using the Pay Pal link.
